Fire in Ambulance bay injures one

The Anderson Fire Department reported one injury, and and damage to multiple vehicles following a Thursday morning fire inside a Medshore Ambulance Service garage.

The fire started 5:20 a.m. on January 4 inside the garage along Ella Street.

Initial reports suggest the incident began when an SUV inside the garage caught fire. there were also two ambulances in the garage at the time the fire started. Officials explained that a medical crew was able to push one of the ambulances out of the garage, but the other was damaged.

Officials from Medshore Ambulance Service’s parent company, Priority on Demand, confirmed that a one Medshore employee was injured during the fire and taken to the Augusta Burn Unit following the incident. The employee’s current condition is unknown.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
